PMDG Drops a Massive July Update – 777-300ER, Xbox Access, and More!

It’s Christmas in July for Microsoft Flight Simulator fans as PMDG just unleashed a monumental wave of releases and updates on July 17th, 2025. If you fly PMDG aircraft, buckle up — this is the biggest update day in quite some time. Let’s break down the highlights from the official PMDG forum announcement.

PMDG 777-300ER Now on Xbox!

The long-awaited day is here — PMDG’s 777-300ER is now available for Xbox users via the MSFS Marketplace. This marks a huge step in bringing high-fidelity, study-level aircraft to console simmers. With the release, PMDG confirms that the Xbox version is functionally identical to its PC counterpart, bringing an elite widebody experience to your living room.

Robert Randazzo, PMDG CEO, emphasized that this Xbox release includes all the detailed systems, visuals, and performance you’d expect — nothing stripped, nothing dumbed down. It’s a full-fat triple seven experience now accessible on both platforms.

More PMDG Aircraft Hit the Marketplace

Alongside the 777-300ER, several other PMDG products are now live or updated on the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace, including:

  • PMDG 737-600/700/800/900 series (for both PC and Xbox)

  • PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster (Xbox-compatible)

  • Major updates to the 737 line and backend infrastructure

This effort significantly expands PMDG’s presence in the in-sim marketplace and makes their lineup more accessible to the console crowd — a long-requested move by the community.

Experimental Update System Begins

For PC users, PMDG is introducing an Experimental Updates pathway for those who want to be on the cutting edge. You’ll soon be able to opt in through the PMDG Operations Center, receiving updates with new features and enhancements before they hit the main release channel.

PMDG promises a streamlined rollback process too, so if the experimental version doesn’t suit your needs, it’s easy to switch back.

Tech Talk: WASM Compilation News

The update also comes with technical improvements, including a shift in how WASM modules are compiled. This change enhances performance and stability, especially for Marketplace versions of PMDG aircraft. If you’ve experienced slow loading or hiccups on Xbox — these backend optimizations should help smooth things out.

What’s Next?

Looking forward, PMDG teases that the 777F Freighter and the 777-200ER are well into beta testing. Expect these variants to roll out "very soon" on PC, with Xbox releases to follow.

Final Thoughts

PMDG continues to raise the bar for realism in MSFS, and this mega-release cements their commitment to cross-platform accessibility and constant innovation. Whether you're on a high-end PC or flying from the comfort of your couch on Xbox, the virtual skies just got a whole lot more exciting.

We’ll be watching closely for the next wave of updates — and you know Sky Blue Radio will be cruising at FL350 with the 777 blasting classic hits while we wait.

Stay tuned, stay airborne, and fly the best — with PMDG and Sky Blue Radio!
