In today’s feature, Sky Blue Radio brings you a first look at the Big Fenix Update (BFU)—a sweeping overhaul of the A320 series for Microsoft Flight Simulator. From refined flight dynamics to full walkaround immersion, here's everything you need to know about this major release.

The Driving Force: Real‑Flight Data

Fenix rebuilt the flight model using profiles from over 800,000 real-world landings, leading to smarter flare logic, more accurate touchdown behavior, and a smoother final approach. The fly-by-wire system has been refined for more lifelike pitch and roll handling. Ground dynamics—including taxi and rudder behavior—are fully tuned for MSFS 2024, making every rollout and turn feel intuitive.

“Baby Shark” Takes Flight

Say hello to the A319 Sharklet variant, affectionately dubbed the “Baby Shark.” This addition includes:

  • CFM56‑5B7 engine for high-thrust performance akin to the A320

  • IAE V2524 engine for authentic regional airline operation

These new additions expand the lineup to seven total engine variants across the CEO fleet, offering pilots more flexibility and realism.

EFB & Weather Radar: Function Meets Flexibility

The electronic flight bag (EFB) gets a functional makeover. Now featuring:

  • Stop margin data on takeoff calculations

  • A built-in PDF chart viewer

  • Audio control knobs for managing external apps like GSX or streaming platforms

A new weather radar with gain control is also included—just one more touch in the push toward realism.

Immersive Audio Experience

Fenix has revamped nearly 3,000 sound samples. You'll notice:

  • Enhanced cockpit ambiance

  • Audio occlusion depending on door status or cabin location

  • Variable footstep sounds based on surface and weather conditions

The result is a cockpit that feels alive—and uniquely reactive to every switch, door, and sound source.

MSFS 2024 Enhancements & Walkaround Mode

Optimized for MSFS 2024, the aircraft now features a completely modular SimObject system. Highlights include:

  • Smoother performance with reduced texture pop-in

  • Over 800 liveries supported, with accurate cabin configurations

  • A fully functional walkaround mode where you can inspect hydraulic panels, spin engine fans, refuel manually, and even activate maintenance switches

It’s not just flying anymore—it’s operating.

Conclusion

The Big Fenix Update is more than just a patch—it's a complete transformation of the A320 family experience. Whether you’re flying in MSFS 2020 or preparing for 2024, this update delivers realism, immersion, and attention to detail like never before.
