In a heartfelt announcement that has resonated deeply with fans worldwide, legendary musician Billy Joel has canceled all his scheduled concerts through July 2026 after being diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a neurological condition that affects balance, cognition, and bladder control.

The 76-year-old "Piano Man" revealed that recent performances had exacerbated his symptoms, leading to issues with hearing, vision, and balance. Under medical advice, Joel is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. He expressed sincere apologies to his fans, stating, "I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding."

NPH is a condition characterized by an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain's ventricles, leading to increased pressure and subsequent neurological symptoms. While it primarily affects individuals over 60, early diagnosis and treatment can lead to significant improvement.

The canceled tour dates included 17 shows across North America and the UK, with performances planned in cities such as New York City, New Orleans, Toronto, Santa Clara, Salt Lake City, Washington, D.C., and Liverpool. Fans who purchased tickets will receive automatic refunds.

Despite this health setback, Joel remains optimistic about his recovery. He is also looking forward to the premiere of his two-part documentary, Billy Joel: And So It Goes, set to debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in June. The film offers an intimate look into his life and career, featuring rare performance footage, archival photos, home movies, and exclusive interviews.

Fans and fellow musicians alike have expressed their support and well-wishes for Joel's recovery. As he focuses on his health, the music community stands united in anticipation of his return to the stage.
