Laminar Research has officially released X-Plane 12.4.0, calling it the “C-Check Update”… and it’s not just a small patch. This update brings a stack of improvements aimed at making the sim smoother, smarter, and more modern behind the scenes, while also delivering meaningful changes pilots will actually notice in the cockpit.

What’s new in X-Plane 12.4.0?

According to Laminar, the update includes:

  • Multi-threaded scenery processing, designed to help performance by spreading scenery work across more CPU resources

  • Support for Tobii Eye Tracker 5 (Windows), adding more immersive head/eye tracking options

  • Updates to the default Airbus A330-300

  • Additional improvements across avionics, visuals, and sim systems

In short: it’s a “maintenance-style” update with a lot of muscle behind it, and it’s aimed at keeping X-Plane 12 running sharp as add-ons and hardware continue to evolve.

Why it matters

The big win here is the continued push toward better performance and modern sim features. Multi-threaded scenery work especially stands out as something that could help reduce bottlenecks and make the sim feel more fluid, particularly for those running heavier scenery or flying into dense airports.
