TPC Flight School is excited to announce the release of our free Helicopters Basics Course. This quick and easy to digest course will help you understand the basics of flying a helicopter. Check it out!

Since this is an introductory lesson, it’s focused on the basic information you’ll need to safely and correctly fly a helicopter in a simulator. This is NOT an exhaustive list of requirements, procedures, or considerations for helicopters, just enough to get you started.

By the end of this lesson, you will know the following:

Basic aerodynamics.

Helicopter parts and controls, including what needs to be mapped in the sim.

How the helicopter flies “differently” than a fixed wing aircraft and what’s similar.

Your first maneuver: 3 foot hover.

Basic flight: hover to take off.

Safety and Dangerous States – Low Rotor RPM, Vortex Ring State (VRS), Retreating Blade Stall

Additionally, we are bringing new LIVE Helicopter Discovery Workshops, starting with a Discovery Flight on 2 December 2023. This workshop will be taught by a real life search and rescue helicopter pilot. Hope to see you there!
