Prepar3D (pronounced “prepared”) is a visual simulation platform that allows users to create training scenarios across aviation, maritime and ground domains. Users can train anywhere in the virtual world, from underwater to sub orbital space.

Prepar3D furthers the development of Microsoft® ESP™ while maintaining compatibility with Microsoft Flight Simulator X, allowing many thousands of add-ons to be used within Prepar3D.

Prepar3D v2 promises to offer the highest-fidelity immersion brought to you by an all new DirectX11 rendering engine according to a news post on their website. Experience like never before realistic shadows, volumetric fog, dynamic lighting, special effects, cockpit self-shadowing, HDR lighting and much more!

Prepar3D is not a consumer product like Microsoft’s Flight Simulator or X-Plane.  The platform is primarily marketed for flight training purposes and it’s pricing is a graduated scale depending on the license required.

The good news is that this simulator is fully compatible with FSX add-ons!  Do you plan to take the leap to the next big simulator?  We have not tested the product as of press time so check back for updates as reviews come in.  Tell us about your experience with Prepar3D on our Facebook page at or tweet us on Twitter at
