Trenton-Mercer Airport by XWind

In my previous reviews I have taken many add-on aircraft to some of the prettiest places in the virtual world of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Some include testing a classic World War II Messerschmitt Tiafun over the rolling hills of Germany. Taking the 777-300ER to Brazil's golden coast. And turning and burning with the Harrier II around the lush Hawaiian Islands. And less we forget the review of Punta Delgado Airport located in the beautiful Azores.

But today, we take life back to reality a bit and visit the long sought after airport of Trenton-Mercer located in everyone's favorite state...New Jersey. Yes! Today we travel to the land of middle-fingers, spray tans, a people who say wooder instead of water. Trenton-Mercer Airport, also known as KTTN, is located in the state capitol of Trenton New Jersey along the Delaware river. Sandwiched between Philadelphia and New York City, this airport is served only by Frontier Airlines for destinations to Florida, Georgia and North Carolina. Other notable tenants are the New Jersey Army National Guard and State Police Aviation Bureau. So, the airport isn’t a complete snooze fest.

Spawning into Gate 2 using FS2020 you’ll notice stairways and loading vehicles adorned with the Frontier Airlines livery that goes well for the emersion of flying real airline operations out of KTTN. Inside the small terminal are seats, security, and a bar area are all modelled. Moving around the airport you’ll come upon the NJ Army Guard base as well as a Signature Flight support for anyone going the GA or Corporate route. Theres not much but this airport does have a little bit everything. Graphics wise there is very little hit on framerates and the modelling of the building and taxiways look to be spot on.

Using a Cessna 182 I decided to tryout both runways. There were no glitches while doing takeoffs and landings as well as taxiing. The lone ILS for runway 6 was programmed and was able to glide me with no issues. A successful performance test if not a boring one. But a good boring.

What we have here is a very solid and affordable add-on for anyone who calls Trenton or the area around it, home. I like when a developer concentrates on some of the more obscure or forgotten airports. Not every Flightsim enthusiast calls a massive international airport their home airport. Hopefully other developers like XWind will do the same. So, New Jersey peeps, enjoy this add-on and go buzz the nearest Wawa while blasting Bon Jovi to 11.
