PA-28R TURBO ARROW III/IV – Review by MONGO

Written by on June 11, 2021

“This plane is simply stunning and beautiful..  The plane works beautifully.  All you have to do is jump in and have a fun flight.  Go anywhere.!” – Mongo

Installation
After you purchase the product from the website below, all you have to do is download the executable file from the JustFlight website. You will need to point the installer to the directory/drive where you have your MSFS installed on.

The Product
This is my review of the JustFlight PA-28R Turbo Model 3&4 download for MSFS 2020. To be put simply, this is an amazing representation of the Aircraft. It was truly amazing to fly. I did a compilation of 4 or 5 flights in MSFS and it worked perfectly.

About 95% of all the Switches/Controls in the plane were fully functional. That fact alone gave it some serious credibility for the model.  They even went as far as to having a fully functional Circuit Breaker panel on the Dash. Normally, C/B panels on Aircraft Models are Non-Functioning visuals only.  I was surprised to find out that I could not start the Aircraft due to the fact that the Alternator Circuit Breaker was popped out.

The looks of the plane both on the inside and outside look visually stunning. Everything looks nice and shiny on the outside of the plane on the surface with levels of detail right down to the rivets. You can really see that they went all out graphics-wise on the plane model. It was really nice to see all the flight controls moving nice and smooth during all phases of flight from Takeoff to Landing and other different maneuvers.  The PA-28 is not meant to be an acrobatics aircraft but it really can do some flying.

During one of my test flights, I deliberately flew in Icing conditions. The aircraft really does not have any anti-icing systems on the plane, but icing conditions on the plane itself is fully represented.  It does have a Pitot Heat system and Cabin Heat system and they do their part to fight the ice.

The Aircraft Pack has 10 different Skins for the the Aircraft. 5 for the Model 3 and 5 more for the Model 4. It even include a aircraft template file pack so you can come up with your own paint jobs for the plane. It also comes a Flight Characteristics Manual and an 86 page Flight Operations Manual for the plane. It’s nice to see the manuals come with the Pack to give Pilot some proper documentation to know to properly fly the aircraft.

Here is a sampling some of the features of the Aircraft:

Model

  • Numerous animations including passenger door, baggage door, cockpit storm window, sun visors and oil cover
  • Ground equipment including chocks, tie-downs and pushback towbar
  • 4096×4096 textures are used to produce the highest possible texture clarity
  • Detailed normal mapping for down-to-the-rivet precision of aircraft surfaces
  • Ground services support (marshaller and fuel truck)
  • Full support for MSFS visual icing effects

Cockpit

  • A truly 3D virtual cockpit right down to accurately modeled seat belts and screw heads – every instrument is constructed fully in 3D with smooth animations

  • Cockpit textures feature wear and tear based on reference photos taken in the real aircraft to produce an authentic environment

  • Dimmable instrument, radio and dome lighting, with separate control circuits

  • Tablet EFB for controlling various aircraft options, and checking aircraft and flight information:
    – ‘Cold & Dark’, ‘Ready for Take-off’ and ‘Ready for Start’ aircraft states
    – Persistent aircraft states, allowing you to always return to your cockpit in the same state that you last left it
    – Automatic fuel tank switching for use on those long distance cross-country flights
    – GPS unit selection – GPS 100, GNS 430/GNS 530 and GTN 750 (requires freeware PMS-50 GTN 750)
Fully compatible with MSFS VR mode

  • Yoke-mounted flight timer/clock

Aircraft systems

  • Custom-coded fuel system including the option to have automatic switching of the fuel tanks for use on those long distance cross-country flights

  • Custom-coded electrical system with functional circuit breakers

  • Realistic landing gear system with emergency and automatic release at low airspeeds

  • Functioning alternate air and static source controls

  • Failures including spark plug fouling, limited battery life, vapor lock and more

  • Lighting system includes separate lighting control for instruments (via rheostat) and realistic implementation of navigation light / radio light rheostat

Conclusion

The PA-28R Turbo Model 3&4 was simply a delight to fly.  I loved it.  It will stay as a part of my MSFS 2020 Aircraft Library for a long time to come. My suggestion is it is a “MUST BUY”. If you love Single or Twin propeller aircraft, stop thinking right now and go out and buy it.   Right now..
