Orbx has released a new scenery package for Microsoft Flight Simulator titled 36S Happy Camp and River Strips – Klamath River, CA, bringing pilots into the rugged Northern California backcountry where the Klamath River winds through canyons, bridges, and narrow landing zones. The scenery is fully compatible with both MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020.

This new release focuses on authentic bush-flying challenges. From Happy Camp Airport (36S), pilots can follow the Klamath River west toward the Pacific, encountering multiple private airstrips, water crossings, and custom terrain that make each leg of the flight uniquely demanding.

What’s Included

The package features several airstrips and landmarks, including:

  • Happy Camp Airport (36S)
  • Paradise Point Campground Strip (CA104)
  • Orleans Industrial and Private Strips (CA105 and CA106)
  • Andy McBeth Airport (S51)

Four custom-built bridges line the route: Martin’s Ferry Bridge, Orleans Suspension Bridge, Klamath River Bridge 4-144, and Elk Creek Road Bridge. Pilots will also find enhanced river terrain, updated water masks stretching from Happy Camp to the ocean, and custom vegetation designed to mirror the region’s distinct landscape. A functional hangar door at Happy Camp Airport, linked to the aircraft’s NAV lights, adds a subtle but immersive touch.

Why It Matters

For general aviation and bush-flying enthusiasts, this scenery delivers a perfect balance of realism and challenge. The twisting river valleys, narrow runways, and unpredictable winds make for exciting VFR flying where navigation skill and aircraft control are key. It’s less about big jets and more about precision, patience, and adventure.
