Orbx Announces Hammerfest Airport for MSFS
Written by George on October 4, 2021
In a post at their forums, Orbx has proudly introduced their new creation coming to the Microsoft Flight Simulator from Finn Hansen who also worked on Sandefjord and Ålesund Airport sceneries for Prepar3D.
The scenery covers the northernmost town in the world with over 10,000 residents and its airport – Hammerfest. The area is specific due to the continuous daylight during the summer months and challenging approach to the Hammerfest Airport’s short and sloped runway sitting on a plateau above the city.
The scenery was developed with great attention to detail offering PBR textures, an accurate replica of the terminal interior, custom static aircraft and ground equipment, or even a custom orthoimagery for the airport and its close vicinity, including the city.
Finn has also recreated the city of Hammerfest as well as the nearby LNG facility. It’s also, for an airport scenery in such region, to have accurate mesh in the airport area and close vicinity. Looking at the previews, Finn has done that also to a high level for the best immersion on your virtual journeys.
As far as we are concerned, this will be the first payware scenery of Hammerfest Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
With significant turbulence around the airport and nearby mountainous terrain, this will test your skills in difficult flying conditions, especially during the dark winter months!
