Orbx Announces Alaska Mesh for MSFS

Written by on August 18, 2021

Bringing custom mesh to the area of Alaska in the United States, Alaska Mesh is going to be Orbx’s third product in this product range for Microsoft Flight Simulator. As well as with NZ Mesh and free Iceland Mesh, Alaska Mesh will offer the best available elevation data for Alaska with up to 5m resolution.

Based on the announcement post available at the Orbx forums, the scenery will cause no noticeable performance impact and is a fully self-contained product with no changes made to the default mesh or any other files.

Alaska is like nowhere else on Earth and is famous for its wide variety landscapes of coastal fjords, braided rivers, spectacular glaciers, alpine tundra, lake-dotted muskegs and vast forests.

Additionally, a coverage map of the Alaska Mesh product for MSFS was included in the post and can be seen below. The product covers all of Alaska including the Aleutian Islands and the Juneau region.

The developers did not disclose the expected release date and pricing details, however, we expect the scenery to be priced similarly to the previous products in the range, around €8.
