Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has just released a unique new expansion in partnership with Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things. The update, available now for free to all owners of the simulator, brings the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana into the world of flight simulation with a set of themed helicopter missions and exploration content.

The Stranger Things expansion adds more than 40 iconic locations from the show recreated in the simulator, including Hawkins Lab, Starcourt Mall, Hawkins Middle School, Lovers Lake, and other familiar landmarks. Players can pilot a Bell UH-1H “Huey” helicopter as part of Hawkins Heli-Tours, flying around the town and tackling five story-driven rescue and exploration missions guided by Murray Bauman.

This crossover comes as Stranger Things Season 5 rolls out on Netflix, offering fans of both the series and flight simulation a new way to engage with the Hawkins universe from above. The content is available through the in-sim marketplace on all supported platforms, including PC, Xbox Series X|S, and the newly launched PlayStation 5 edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The expansion blends the atmospheric storytelling of Stranger Things with the realism and world-scale flying of Microsoft Flight Simulator, marking one of the more unexpected yet creative collaborations in the sim’s history
