Known for their study-level Bombardier Dash 8-400 addon for Prepar3D and legacy FSX, Majestic Software has towards the end of November taken to their social networks to give us an update on their Q400 and Q300 V2 for Microsoft Flight Simulator and Prepar3D.

Prepar3D Support Statement

Whilst Lockheed Martin is switching from ESP to Unreal Engine, Majestic Software has reassured the community that they intend to support Prepar3D in the future, unlike many developers who abandoned Prepar3D with the rise of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

According to the team, MSFS still lacks some of the unique features that Prepar3D provides, making it unsuitable for their TRAINING and COCKPIT editions, which are frequently used for actual flight training. They further added that this decision is subject to future evaluations.

Majestic Software additionally detailed that while they are not going to push new updates to Prepar3D v3 and older, they will continue to support affected products. To the Prepar3D v4 variant of the aircraft, the team is planning to release a new update featuring virtual cockpit improvements.

Q400 for MSFS

On a different note, Majestic Software detailed the status of their Q400 for Microsoft Flight Simulator.

According to what they wrote, the developer who is in charge of converting the aircraft from Prepar3D to Microsoft Flight Simulator will need to rewrite the code. Once this process is complete, alpha testing can begin.

Majestic Software clarified that, while the SDK does limit the team in some features, it is no longer as problematic as it was when MSFS was first released. The team did not make any clarifications on the expected release timeframe.

Q300 V2 for MSFS

Aspiring to be Majestic’s first aircraft developed from scratch for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the team has clarified that the development will “ramp up” as soon as the Q400 port for MSFS is released. The same also applies to 100/200 variants.

A timeline at this time of project completion cannot be provided, but when we are satisfied with the progress of projects in work, we will provide updates with images and or video relating to such.

Kroswynd – Majestic Software

Are you looking forward to flying turboprops in Microsoft Flight Simulator? Are you planning to buy Majestic Software’s Q400 despite it being a port from Prepar3D?
