Laminar Research Previews the A330 PFD for the Next Version of X-Plane

Written by on September 11, 2021

Laminar Research has today shared on their blog a completely new preview picture for their upcoming default aircraft – Airbus A330 for The Next Generation of X-Plane.

In case you don’t know what The Next Generation of X-Plane is, it is a new, work in progress version of this favourite simulator in the flight sim community. It should bring many new features, such as seasons, 3D trees, overhauled lighting, and much more.

This development update by the A330 designer Alex shows the works on the Airbus A330, as mentioned. They want to bring high-fidelity Airbus systems to the simulator, so there’s a lot of work to be done. One of the features the developer mentioned is “Group Animation”, which stands for having animated instruments the same way as an individual generic instrument can be. These groups can be nested, which means they allow more complex animations to be done on the PFD.

The developer said that there’s still a lot to do and these two previews we’ve got today have been revealed through the PlaneMaker app. If you are interested in learning more about The Next Generation of X-Plane, you can read our other article.

Thanks to Dalibor Kotek on our Discord server for notifying us about these previews.
