The owner of HCG Digital Arts, Tony Burgess, took to his webpage to announce the release of his Spartan 7W rendition for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This addon aims to bring the luxury and the comfort of 1930s flying into the world of MSFS.

The developer vows that this Spartan 7W rendition is modelled in great detail. The aircraft features custom propeller and fluid dynamics, a Wwise sound pack and an accurate flight model. This allows flight simmers to fly the Spartan 7W according to real-life procedures.

Concerning avionics, HCG’s Spartan 7W features a Garmin GNS-530 and a KAP 140 autopilot. This allows the aircraft to be flown in the modern age without many constraints.

Additionally, the aircraft is modelled using 4K PBR textures and comes with 5 real-world liveries. Many parts of the aircraft are animated. These include the windows, doors, gears and even the suspension.

The Spartan 7W by HCG Digital Arts is available to be purchased on SimMarket for €24.00. The developer specified that the product will be adequately updated to include body icing, more livery choices and address any bugs and issues.

Currently, iniBuilds is also working on a rendition for the same aircraft. To learn more about the development on their rendition, read my article on the subject.

History of the Spartan 7W

The Spartan 7W Executive is a monoplane produced by the Spartan Aircraft Company during the 1930s and 1940s. Designed for the executive market, the Spartan 7W was recognised by affluent owners for its speed and comfort. The aircraft can cruise at 24,000 feet and fly at 346 km/h. The version modelled by the developer features a Pratt & Whitney R-985 9-cylinder radial engine, offering up to 450bhp of power.

Due to the emergence of WWII, the Spartan 7W also saw military action, notably with the US Army Air Corps and the Royal Air Force.
