Airport apron work won’t fly

Written by on December 18, 2017

Perhaps the third time will be a charm for Grand Junction Regional Airport when work begins in the spring on a third try at replacing the east apron. Tests on the most recently poured concrete showed that the second effort fell short, as the first did this fall, of Federal Aviation Administration requirements. Consequently, the airport will reject the second try at replacing the apron, interim Airport Executive Director Mark Achen said. The concrete now in place on the apron will remain until spring, when it will be removed and new concrete installed. Gary Harmon/Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
