Elevated Status in FAA Classification Positions Airport for Future Growth and Funding Opportunities

 Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP) is proud to announce its new designation as a National General Aviation Airport, the highest classification in the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS). This significant achievement reflects the airport’s increasing activity, infrastructure, and regional importance in aviation.

 The FAA’s airport classification system – Basic, Local, Regional, and National – plays a key role in determining the level of grant funding airports receive. CASP has held a Regional classification since the NPIAS classification system for General Aviation airports was established in 2012. The recently released 2025-2029 NPIAS now recognizes CASP as a National facility, solidifying its status among the top General Aviation airports in the country. The new designation will enable CASP to access additional FAA funding and strengthen its ability to apply for and receive critical grants for future development under programs such as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), helping the airport stay competitive and future-ready.
