Whatever happened to German efficiency? Berlin’s new airport is a contender for the world’s most useless

Germany’s reputation for precision and punctuality is taking a battering thanks to the ongoing saga of its capital’s sparkling new airport. The grand opening of Berlin’s Brandenburg Airport (BER) was recently delayed by two more years – until October 2020 – while the German newspaper Bild last week claimed that another €1billion (£882million) will be needed to complete the project.
